I've finally decided to start fresh. Well, mainly fresh. If you enjoyed fashlynable, these websites are new and improved. I hope to achieve a more photography focused blog and inspire many. Those are my goals.

Abandonment

Unlike most abandoned things, an abandoned blog does not appeal to me whatsoever. But, I have come to the conclusion that my blog has no spark. It lacks something vital: my own personal interest. I feel like I am writing articles instead of opinions and in general I avoid even logging on to my dashboard anymore. Outfit posts are non existant and my inspiration lacks freshness. I do not want to abandon blogging. I do, however, foresee this becoming a ghost town if I do not take action. I feel like I need a new start to entice my efforts. I've had this blog for over two years and haven't even managed the 100 post milestone. I have no excuses, just facts.

I have ideas on a new blog, one that I'm actually passionate about. For now, I am not shutting down this blog because I want to be able to export posts and comment on things on other blogs.

If you're a reader, don't worry: you will see me around soon ;).

The Drawn Word

Lately, the need to create has overwhelmed me. I'm to the point where I stay up into the wee hours of the morning just abuzz with the possibilities in front of me. I've always had an ever so slight notebook fetish that leads me to spending more of my hard earned money on journals and pens than even clothes. But lately my eyes have been opened to even more possibilities to fill the countless blank pages I've accumulated.

My obsession with art journals started about two years ago when I began taking my first photography class in school. The concept of "altered books" was first introduced to me by my art teacher with an ongoing assignment she has each introductory level student create. After my friend brought the book 1000 Artist Journal Pages to share with me, the obsession truly took flight. Pawing through the volume lead me to believe in the superiority of journals whose authors experiment with different mediums and techniques. While I've yet to begin my own journey through the world of art journaling, I've set aside several for this purpose.

Prints Charming

Unless it involves a liberty print floral, some type of stripe, or a leopard print I usually do not find myself gravitating towards prints of any sort. I am a firm believer in the plain, v-neck tee shirt in multiple colors that can be worn with skirts and jeans and still look good. My dresses have a certain theme of being one of the aforementioned patterns. However, when I was sorting through my massive collection of magazine clippings and pages, I came across a noteable piling of printed clothing! Especially of the mixed variety. Here's a four page collage spread done in my faithful Picadilly (sorry Moleskine!) inspiration journal.

Right now I can't get enough of skeleton/skull related things. Typically, the bodiless entities end up in my art and my fashion inspiration alike. But, unlike what the ring might foretell, I imagine pairing these with my daintiest lace and floral dresses. After seeing some serious biker rings at my local flea market, I am determined to track down the perfect ring.

The first ring is definitely in the running for such a ring. It is so unique and such an interesting design concept that I would be willing to part with the money to possess it. The second is similar, however, the band distracts a little from the overall feeling of the ring. I love the cameo skeleton on the last ring; however, I simply don't wear rings that big.

As any overachieving high school student may know, AP tests are officially over (for most of us, anyways). I finished up on Monday. However, AP tests mean that I don't have to attend school. But honestly, the choice is obvious between seeing my friends and getting to walk about over having to sit in one room for four hours.

Anyways, besides that, I've been grateful to be able to wear a lot of skirts and shorts. After what seemed like an endless winter, the blooms and blossoms took my breath away. Now with only three and a half weeks left of school, I am more than ready to embark on the journey of endless potential: summer. The season just spells freedom to me.

I'm officially kicking off the season with a trip to the lake house this weekend, perhaps I'll wear something particularly outfit worthy and do a photoshoot with my ever wonderful boyfriend. The thought of my lovely beau toting around a camera reminds me: prom was a few weekends ago. Have any of you guys been to prom yet this year?

I'm not really a "shirt" kind of person. As weird as this sounds, I always find myself in search of a shirt or some kind of top to wear. Although most might not find that their closet is lacking of shirts, I own more dresses than any other item of clothing I can think of. Although this is largely appealing because I always feel better when I'm wearing a dress, it makes it a little bit difficult when I'm in the mood for a more casual outfit (rare).

Anyways, besides frolicking in the woods with my Holga and my Canon, I have been hitting the books and the pavement pretty hard lately. I only have a week of track left, and while that is somewhat hard to hear as I've been struggling to get a good mile time, I have been running for five months straight. I like the effects running offers, but I am not in favor of the exhaustion and time consumption it also presents.

Only a month left of junior year :).

The title of today's post was inspired by a Dickinson poem that my English teacher said pretty much sums up high school for a lot of people. It definitely resonated with me, but instead of feeling a "woe is me" sensation, I feel really empowered by the poem.

Anyways, the outfit! Lately I've been trying to do more combination style outfits than just plain and simple "I feel preppy. Let's do a blazer and topsiders". Or "I feel romantic. Let's wear lace skirts and ballet flats." I really love J. Crew catalogs' knack for nailing the combination of soft and girly with preppy, as those are two of my favorite styles. And I don't think it's one of those overdone combinations like "edgy and girly" or something. Hoping to keep posts back up! It is definitely hard to do a high school sport and keep up a fashion blog but hey, I try to show my passion for what I love.

Knock Your Socks Off

One of these skirts is "Exclusive to Urban Outfitters". One of them is from Wet Seal. Need I say more? Not only does this bother me because I paid the full, honest price of fifty eight dollars for the Silence & Noise skirt (on the left), but I just can't bring myself to shop there anymore. Now, I realize that Forever 21 isn't exactly known for its originality, but I do admire the company's efforts to be more than just blatant knock offs. If this skirt is knocked off from a higher end designer, I fully admit hypocrisy due to ignorance. However, I have been attempting to hunt down if there is a true designer.

So this brings me to another topic. The reason why fashion blogging became so intensely popular has nothing to do with the supposed benefits one can gain from being "discovered". Fashion blogging is a fantastic phenomenon because we can actually see originality in the hands of individuals.

What do you guys think? I understand if you would rather spend $22.50 on this skirt (if you'd buy the skirt at all), believe me so would I. But it doesn't seem like Urban Outfitters ripped Wet Seal off. In this instance, I can say I'm actually happy to have spent the $58 in this case.

Alice and Olivia, FALL RTW 2010

I haven't found the time to compile my official review of my favorite collections, but on impulse my little white arrow meandered to the Alice and Olivia collection for the Fall season. Although this is not a designer I typically choose to review, I like finding new favorites. I actually consider Alice and Olivia to be one of the more accessible designers. Some of their things, admittedly, I wouldn't break the bank for but others I am rather drawn to.

First of all, because my school has officially caught prom fever, I am gravitating towards dresses anyways. Typically, I prefer neutrals. But the purple number on the top caught my eye for reasons unknown. Well, maybe it was the layered-with-whimsy skirt. Anywhoha, the other picks are all epitomes of my newest obsession in dresses: cream. As these models show, cream flatters us fair ladies and generally looks good on most any skin tone. It cuts the harshness of white. It transcends any seasonal rules for colors (do they even exist anymore? honestly?). It eats away at my budget. I certainly wouldn't mind that feathered number and the accompanying cardigan eating away at my budget (ahem, that is, my mother's budget) at the moment.

Sorry for the somewhat sketchy quality of the picture, I couldn't locate my tripod piece for the longest time and the daylight hours weren't in my favors on that day. My mom had to take this one and she didn't get the shoes :(. However, I editted it a little bit and I like the effects but they might work better on a different picture.

On a different note, I hope everyone is doing well. I've had a flurry of monotonous school activities and I'm really hoping things start to slow down soon. I'm driving myself into the ground! But oh well, I have some really great things to look forward to. Like a possible spring break trip to NYC? Sounds like JUST what I need.

Also, get ready for prom posts. A lot of them. I know, I know, prom seems super cheesy but I am so excited to find the PERFECT dress. Being girly is so much fun and I like having that excuse.

I Found the Answers, Looking in Your Eyes

I could post pictures of this movie all day. (500) Days of Summer is truly one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. It is the perfect length and the perfect amount of "artsy" without losing any plot or realism. The soundtrack is amazing and I enjoyed every minute.

If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. Even as a date movie, it is great. My boyfriend and I have watched it twice and even he really likes it. If you have seen it, let me know what you think!

A picture I messed around with on photobucket...thought it was worth sharing.

Although these pictures were taken quite a bit ago, I've had quite the rollercoaster of a week. I only ended up going to school two days this week, although it was one very long seven day interval. Some explanation is due.

In fact, I had a stomach bug. Not pleasant in the slightest.

However, I am back to par healthwise now and I absolutely loved this outfit. This was definitely my favorite Rodarte for Target purchase, and it wasn't even one that I had lusted over for a lengthy time. It was more of an impulse buy but boy am I glad I felt so inclined.

Not much of an update, but I took more pictures today. I am beat, though, and will post those as soon as everything with school/ my health is worked out.

The weather in my town is doing strange things. It won't be below fifty all week. This is good, but something tells me it is short lived which makes me sad. However, I had a great three day weekend and have some cool pictures to share.

A Book You Read in Reverse

Lately I have been so lethargic I haven't even wanted to move my computer to our network connector for anything, be it blogging or homework. Today, however, I felt a surge of motivation, perhaps caused by the outfit I particularly liked. It combines my favorite preppy and classic elements with probably my favorite skirt in my wardrobe. I actually got a really good deal on that skirt. Maybe it was pricey compared to the $12 that are now on WalMart's racks, but I guess that is the price I pay for being "ahead of the curve"...or ahead of mass discount retailers in any case.

Also, I slightly cross processed my pictures, but toned down the green tint a little bit. What do you think? I'll have another post in cross process to get a feel for it but I may end up switching back, who knows?

And, some bittersweet news...I've started running conditioning again. As much as I love to run, running and outfit pictures do not mix considering when I get home, around four thirty in the afternoon, not only is there not much time left in the day, but I'm also just getting back from a vigorous workout. I hope you understand my dilemma, but I will start taking my pictures either at school, lunch, or in the morning.

I would prefer them to be under one hundred dollars, wedges, lace up, and a cognac leather. If anyone has heard of such a fairytale shoe, please direct me to where I can purchase the beauties! So far the rsvp shoes are looking the best...but I'm afraid that I don't wish to spend that much right now.

Scent is said to be one of the most interesting senses that creatures of the earth possess. It alone can bring back a flood of memories. From strawberry Lip Smackers to the cologne of your ex boyfriend, scents are the most potent trigger available. Below I've compiled a list of my favorite perfumes (don't I wish that people could smell through computers. I'm sure that is being developed somewhere) and the outfits/styles I think they would go with. If you're in the market for a new perfume, I really hope this helps!

Viva La Juicy

This perfume is the one I chose to redeem my free perfume certificate for from my sampler. It is girly and classy, with a bit of a cheeky edge. It is the perfect scent to wear when you need a little confidence boost and every time I personally get a whiff of it on my wrists or in my hair it calms me.

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 RTW

Another personal favorite of mine. I discovered this one after my 16th birthday when I had a whole one hundred dollar gift card at Sephora. Although it isn't an every day scent for me, it really evokes a sense of sophistication. To me, this seems like the perfect coming-of-age scent: one that is just right for a twenty something who has outgrown sweeter scents but isn't ready for the "older" smelling perfumes yet. This perfume is feminine and classic.

Nude by Stella McCartney

Prada Fall 2008 RTW

This is definitely a scent that a minimalist could live with. It is light and crisp, and doesn't read as an accessory but instead as an extension of the outfit. The name "Nude" really suits this scent because it doesn't seem too overpowering or sweet at all. Unlike the Juicy Couture fragrance that I chose, this perfume doesn't seem too young or girly. It spans over all ages. I was definitely stumped on which one to redeem the certificate for, but once the Juicy runs out I might try this one.

Fresh Pink Jasmine

I know, I know: a floral scent with floral print. But hear me out. Fresh Pink Jasmine is probably my favorite fragrance of all time. It is without a doubt the scent of my summer. I was given this perfume for my fifteenth birthday and am salvaging the last drops. Fresh did an excellent job because it is like spraying liquid jasmine flowers. It reminds me of when everything is full of possibilities and that is why I will always love this scent.

Barbara Tfank Fall 2009 RTW

Although this isn't a scent I would necessarily wear, it is a personal favorite because it is what my mother wears. This perfume is perfect for those who are classy, comforting, and kind individuals. I view (or smell, rather) it as a scent that can be worn with ANY outfit, be it a black tee shirt with jeans or an expensive evening gown. However, the above dress epitomizes it most because it is definitely a classic shape, with a little bit of a twist.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

I really hate being all dressed up with nowhere to go, and this was definitely one of those situations. I really wanted to go to a few local boutiques in a few towns over (does that sound suburban or what?) but couldn't find a ride from ANYONE. It wasn't that the money was burning a hole in my pocket or anything of that nature, I was just itching to do some good vintage shopping/look around in a really fun, girly boutique that has GREAT quality clothes for the price that they are. It's one of those local gems that makes me grateful :).

Speaking of which, I'm going to a mountain touristy place tomorrow to do a little bit of tooling around so hopefully I might find some cool jewelry. I know of one really great celtic store that I might look into. I'll post pictures some time this week of my little adventure, as well as details about one of my photographs that got into a student exhibition at a local art museum.

On a particularly nice day this week, my boyfriend treated me to a great day around town. I had some polaroid film (RIP, for now?) that I had to use before it expired and those are some of the results. My personal favorite is the one of the trees and the fence.

It was a really fun day, he even helped me out in my Goodwill search. What a champ. Anyways, my Rodarte for Target clothes haven't been worn much yet, but I'm currently wearing the tulle slip dress so definitely expect pictures on that ASAP.

The First Day of My Life

My outfit yesterday for running around town with my boyfriend, who is finally a licensed driver even though he turned seventeen over a month ago. I'll spare the details, but it basically involves a LOT of procrastination ;).

Anyways, I had a really good time on our "date" which consisted of going to Wendy's, The Dollar Tree, and Wal Mart, and EXCHANGING PRESENTS!

I was lucky enough to receive the above scarf, and the fragrance sampler. I'm seriously a perfume junkie so this simply delighted me :).

Tomorrow I'll post about my personal review on most of the items from the Rodarte for Target line as I was trying many pieces on in the dressing room for quite some time! Oh and a few Goodwill snags ;).

Remember My Rose

This is my favorite outfit that I've worn in a long time, right up there with this one. I wore it to get some Christmas presents for my boyfriend along with some much needed running tights/ other running goodies. As much as I love to run, during cross country season I hardly have energy or time to dress like I usually want to. However, my New Year's Resolution this year is not only to wear everything I own at least once (I think we all have those items that we forget we even own) but to also dress in an outfit I feel is "post-worthy" every day. Granted, my posts are a true reflection of my style, but sometimes my style has to be toned down to camis, cardis,jeans and flats for a day just so I can get my act together.

In a nutshell, junior year sucks. (OH but thank God I'm on winter break. However, I have to read one of my books for my American author thesis paper, but it is the last one. Do any of you read John Irving? I love his books and am so glad that I chose him for my paper. Long "parenthetical interruption" here!)

Do any older, wiser fashion bloggers have some advice for stressed high schoolers? I'm going crazy with all of these (literally) sleepless nights when all I really want to do is make fashion my main priority. Maybe that should tell me something about career choices...:)

Holiday How To: Festive Flats

After signing up for J. Crew's catalogs, I have been endlessly inspired. However, I can't exactly afford to buy everything I love from there. After seeing some lovely flats there, I got the idea to simply make them myself! Here are instructions on what I did, and I LOVE the results. Happy Holidays!

You will need:

1. Pair of cheap, basic flats. I chose metallic flats from WalMart, $9.

2. Small paper plates.

3. Newspaper, unless you are somewhere where you can get glitter everywhere.

3. Thick, paintable craft glue. I chose tacky glue, available at any store with craft supplies.

4. Foam brushes in a medium size. Too big and it will be impossible to apply the glue.

5. Glitter of your liking. I decided on a mix of gold and silver for this pair.

6. High gloss sealant. This is of the UTMOST importance.

7. Optional: spray adhesive, I used some from Elmer's.

1. Pour a decent amount of tacky glue onto the paper plates.

2. Apply glue to about a quarter of the shoe's surface (half of one size). Less will take forever to get the shoe covered and more might not be sticky enough by the time you get all of it covered.

3. Shake enough glitter over the glue to cover the surface of the shoe completely. If mixing two colors, it might be better to have an empty shaker and mix them before hand for an even application. Otherwise, the shoes may turn out somewhat splotchy with different colors.

4. This step is an optional measure to make sure there is enough glitter on the shoe to fill the entire surface. Apply spray adhesive to one half of the shoe.Shake enough glitter over it to fill in any gaps from the original glitter application.

5.Thoroughly coat the entire shoe with a gratuitous amount of the high gloss sealant. This way, your glitter will stay in tact and you won't leave a trail behind you wherever you go. This step needs to be done outside and will allow some drying time before you can handle the shoe.

6. Repeat 1-5 for other shoe :).

Troubleshooting:

1. When using the spray adhesive, make sure the inside of the shoe is covered, otherwise the glitter will end up inside of the shoe as well.

2. The sealant will cause the shoes to become VERY wet. Do not touch the glittery part of the shoe because the glitter will "smudge" and have your finger marks on it. The sealant also is very potent so seriously, spray them outside :)!

3. When I spray the sealant on mine, the black coloring on the soles started to come off on my hands. Just be careful because it will probably stain!

4. Resist the temptation to watch your sparkly feet with each step ;).

That Toddlin' Town

I cannot stop swishing in this skirt. I felt like a little flapper girl all day long and decided to play it up with the feather headband for the photoshoot (only cheating I have done so far I promise!). The movement of the skirt is addicting, however, I have one problem with it: two fringe pieces have already come loose and I've had to cut them off. Obviously not a skirt for everyday wear.

Anyways, getting dressed with a certain piece in mind for inspiration always helps me. This certainly heightened my desire for vintage and girly pieces today and definitely helped getting dressed quickly this morning!

When I Look in Her Eyes, I Just See the Sky

Outfit worn on a fun shopping excursion this weekend. A lot of my favorite pieces combined to make up a great outfit for the "mild" fall days (with temperatures into the 80's, the joys of the South). I absolutely adore this seersucker skirt that I picked up on an overnight trip to Charlotte recently from American Apparel. It's one of those things that I have pictured in my head a thousand times and was ecstatic to find it in stores, so I actually paid full price for it. I love the pastel, lady-like combination in this outfit. It epitomizes what I want my fall look to be, even if at times it is a little more "glam".

Also, I received a package from Every Little Counts today in the mail from winning a giveaway. I'm in love. More to come later ;).

Spring, a Commentary

To start things off, my review is done in the same fashion as the fall shows, I chose a few favorite pieces from a few favorite designers and tried to pick out what was most wearable about them to me.

Chanel: These were my favorite three looks of the entire collection. The whole "country feel" was ok, but I really DO NOT like those shoes. I absolutely adore the jacket with the bow top and the skirt, I would wear something like that all the time given the chance. The other two looks are a little less practical, but I like the aesthetic that is presented here. It seems more accessible than a lot of runway looks. I have the perfect skirt to recreate the first look, too :).

Burberry: Burberry was allowed to have five pictures in my selection for a reason: it was hard for me to narrow it down to only three. Even before my more indepth look at Spring RTW 2010, I saw these pictures floating about everywhere and they've been haunting my mind's eye ever since. To me, this collection really evokes the feel of growing up in a stylish way, and what better season to explore growing than Spring. I love everything from the colors (that sea foam green is to die for), to the straight jacket like appearance of the mens shirt pictured. I know I love a collection when even the male counterparts look stunning and inspiring.

Sonya Rykiel: My favorite part of this collection was it was presented as if it were SO MUCH FUN. I really get a sense of adventure; looking at these clothes makes me feel like there's oppurtunity around every corner and that all I have to do is find it. I love the quilted coat (an homage to all the other quilted aspects in the collection: this one was my favorite, though) because it seems very versatile and elegant. I'm not crazy about the belt with the cardigan/skirt ensamble, but I adore the nubby cardigan (although I'd rather not show that much bone if I wore it...). The long cardigan seems casual, but well put together, and are those sheer bike shorts? Nifty.

Erin Fetherston: Ladylike as usual, EFETH hit this one spot on. It wasn't as good as Fall 09, I must admit, but the key pieces can definitely be a source of inspiration. The pants in the first suit seem like the perfect adaptation to the whole sloucher trousers trend, and I can see them being used in various styles and situations, one of those cliched "dress up or down" pieces I guess I can call it. The dress is low cut, has polka dots, and structured pockets. Enough said. And this jacket. I canNOT get this jacket out of my mind. It is perfection. I love bows (it seems like most do nowadays, but don't we all have nostalgia for bows?!), I love this almost navy color with the black trim, and the structure is fantastic. This jacket is the epitome of the reason I don't wear hoodies.

Betsey Johnson: Basically, prom dress candidates. I've been obsessed with getting a Betsey Johnson prom dress since I don't know, seventh grade? They are the perfect length, not too overdone or princessy, and I would actually wear it again. The floral on the second dress is in fact perfection.

Don't ask me how, but I actually convinced my boyfriend to dress up as Mickey to my Minnie this Halloween. Granted, this post is a little late but I love that costume so much I couldn't resist. None of it is part of a prepackaged costume, so I hope to be able to utilize all of the elements again. I especially fell in love with the red mini petticoat. It made my polka dot skirt poufy and girly beyond normal proportions!

Anyways, I'm finally out of my junior year slump. I think it partially has to do with the fact that I actually get home before six in the evening now, so I'll have plenty of time for outfit pictures after school now. And I ahem, supplemented my wardrobe gratuitously ;).

As an update, I am now in fact sixteen, no license until February though, and I got exactly what I wanted for my birthday (pictures later). For my huge English project that spans the rest of the school year, I have chosen John Irving (I have to read four of his books in the order they were published and write a "thesis" paper), so if anyone has read his works, do tell what you thought! And, my first cross country meet is on Saturday, eek!

Also, excuse my long absence! I contracted walking pneumonia, during my first week of school, while all of my projects were due, during a hard week of cross country. In a word, hell. But, my birthday is Friday, I'm catching up on homework, and things are looking up. I'll have a lot more time after these next few weeks are over, but expect several more outfit posts next week! Pictures definitely don't do these jeans justice. They're just bleached enough without being completely over the top, and although these pictures don't show the back, one of the pockets has a row of bright silver pyramid studs. The studs are also in place of the normal copper grommets, as I believe they are called.

Also, I can't figure out how to schedule posts. :/

Two more things, I need a refresher for my hair, I'm getting a little tired of it. I'd love suggestions, but keep in mind the waviness you see is completely natural and I don't really enjoy combating it. And, the past three post titles are from the same band's songs, anyone know? The Dodo's Conundrum

Lately, my schedule has been about as follows: wake up, run, shower and sleep, talk on the phone or some variety of communication until the wee hours of the morning, go to sleep, then do it all again. I haven't mentioned it, I don't think, but I'm currently on my school's nationally ranked cross country team. And fashion and running don't necessarily coexist naturally. My feet are currently turning black and blue, and my boyfriend tells me the toenail that has been turning my socks bloody will fall off in about a week...that should make for interesting conversation when I wear open toed shoes, no?

Oh, and today I got my permit. I turn sixteen in less than a month, and I just got my permit.

In related news, I will be gone to cross country camp starting August 3rd until the 7th, however I have decided to have a few scheduled posts so I don't feel so darn negligent.

P.S. One of my favorite outfits ever. Wore this yesterday, but I could wear that shirt every day of my life and never get tired of it.

When You Notice the Stripes

A face only a mother could love...considering she took the picture. Sorry for the squinty face and lack of detail shots, we were ready to get going! By the way, for those of you in search of the PERFECT skinny jeans, I highly recommend the Bullhead Solana Extreme skinny from Pac Sun. The openings at the bottom are smaller than standard skinny jeans and they really fit more like leggings. Also, you can't go wrong with 2 for $55, although currently they only have four washes. Also, that jacket was bought brand new at the biggest thrift store I've ever been in, and was a walloping $2.13.

Mega Make Up Post!

Reasonable excuses for my absence:
1.) A tragic hippopotamus accident destroyed my laptop and killed my parents (bonus points if you understand the hippo killing the parents thing)
2.) I had a very tumultuous April and decided that fashion blogging was to blame
3.) I was actually overwhelmed with the end of school and my summer has been so crazy that I am just now uploading all of my photos
4.) I was lazy and uninspired

It turns out the real reasons I have been away so long are reasons 3 and 4. The end of school was kind of hectic because the hardest project of the year was assigned (7 page paper on Nazi propaganda in the 1930's, dual grade, one for English and one for History) and it literally wore me down. Then I had to try and maintain my grades because of a certain initiative my mom offered me for all A's this year. All school aside (hey, it is summer, I don't want to even think about that right now), summer has been crazy fun :]. So, instead of rambling about what I've been doing, I'll provide a quick peek into it through pictures:

Many, many visits to my lake house, occasionally with boyfriend in tow (although I've yet to even photograph him...it's only a matter of time). This particular picture was from a day I was there with only my parents so I frolicked around and took about a thousand pictures.

Celebrating July 4th with industrial boxes of glow sticks, sparklers, and a community fireworks show from the neighbors at my lake house.

Going slightly over 900 miles (so the flight attendants informed me) to Denver, Colorado. I really loved the weather there, and even in the middle of summer, you can see from my outfit above the temperature was not hot, at all. The first picture is a suspension bridge downtown, the second picture is some cool looking piece of Denver's geography (I don't know what the technical term is) and the last picture is the great view from the parking lot of the Stanley Historic hotel (where The Shining was filmed!!!).

I'll post more pictures of Denver in a mega Denver post, but for now, I'm definitely going to be playing catch up on reading all of your lovely fashion blogs. I've missed blogging a lot lately, so hopefully I can get inspired! I have been feeling more and more creative lately and have gotten several new things so don't give up on me, I'M BACK :].

But I Can't Change Time...

Sorry for the kind of bad quality picture here, I haven't figured out how to take a really good picture without natural lighting outside with my camera (it was about 9 when I took these) and I hate flash...a lot. My face is blurred because I was practically snarling at the camera.

I didn't know that my favorite Target had Nylon until the other day, when I was out and about looking for the card game Set (anyone ever played it?). I also got the hairspray to end all hairspray, Loreal Elnett. It costs quite a bit for hairspray but my mom and I put it to the test. She went on a run, in the rain, and when she was done her hair looked exactly the same. And, the best part? This hairspray doesn't make hair sticky and gross at all.

Now, if only real school could be like this. Magazines are textbooks and homework assignments include shopping (for shoes, too, of course) and perusing fashion blogs. I wish this school exsisted! But all fantasies aside, these are three of my favorite pairs of shoes that I bought recently. I walked into Dillards and found the heels and the black flats on deeeep discount and absolutely couldn't resist. The heels are a staggering 4 inches but I absolutely adore them.

Anyways, Spring always bring out my need for change. Not huge change, but not tiny change either. I'm not the kind of person who can just get a haircut and have my need for change quelled (especially since I almost never change my hair anyways!). I need a lifestyle changing event in order for this crazy restlessness to be satisfied, but until then, I'll settle for clothes and makeup experimentation.

Let's Go

Spring always gives me that restless feeling, like I have to be moving constantly. I actually don't mind, it allows for a lot more adventure in my life which I have been craving relentlessly since the weather has warmed up. It drives my parents crazy because well, I can't drive! I am constantly begging to be taken anywhere, even if it is just Wal Mart, to avoid sitting at home all day. (Oh and it's Spring Break!)

Luckily I got a little bit of this feeling out of my system with a short trip to Ohio this past weekend. Above is just a shot of some random interstate town, shutter speed was like twenty seconds so I'm surprised it's not a lot blurrier. Anyways, I'm now convinced that Ohio has the best Goodwill's/ Plato's Closets in the world. My step mom indulged my frugal side and bought me several new things from both places. Pictures are on their way.

I absolutely love ivy. Not when a house is completely covered in it, but when it is just beginning to creep up a brick wall...to me it is beautiful.

It came from one of my favorite artists on deviantart (vampire-zombie). I swear, almost all of her photos are on my "faved" section. Also, she's only seventeen! Pretty incredible.

Ah I feel so negligent to my poor little blog. Thank you for all the comments and I will return them as soon as possible, but now, that restless feeling is kicking in again and I MUST PLAY OUTSIDE.

Double Bow DIY Tutorial

Materials Needed:

Clear tacky glue and Quickgrab tacky glue (or any permanent glue)
A plaid headband,about .5'' thick
40 inches of fabric or ribbon (.5" thick to 1" thick)

1. If you're using fabric, glue or sew it to a suitable thickness.
Make sure it is smooth and sans bumps (notice the lumps in mine).
If you are using ribbon, this step is unnecessary.

2.Start by gluing (use Quickgrab) one end of the fabric to one end of the fabric.
I put the glue on the headband and wrap the fabric around two or three times,
making a new line of glue for each "rotation".3.Wrap the material around the headband, making sure there is no slack.
If there is slack, make the angle that you are wrapping sharper and pull very tight.
Slack causes the wrapping to be uneven and poofy, and it doesn't look very good.

4. When all of the headband is covered, follow step number 2 for the other end.
5. Cut off excess fabric. With the extra fabric,you will make the bow. Start by making a fold,
shown above, with at least 7 inches left over. Make sure the fold is rounded, not creased.

6. With the "left over" fabric, make another fold. This will create the bottom
row for your bow, and it looks best at about 4 inches or less.

7.Follow the same procedure as 5 and 6, only layering it on top of the first row,
and on a smaller scale.

(What the results should be of your folds).

8. Cut off any extra fabric from the bottom row. Put a thin line of the clear glue
in between all "layers" of the bow, on the middle. Make sure the middle is tight and the bow is sturdy. You should only have to make three lines of glue for the bow to be complete.

9. Cut a small piece of fabric, long enough to wrap around your bow. It can be contrasting or the same thing, it really doesn't matter! Make sure the piece of fabric is thin enough to fit in the middle of your bow.

10. Use the clear glue and glue the fabric to the top of your bow.

11. Put a small line of the clear glue on the bottom of your bow.

12. Place your headband on the bottom side of your bow, making sure to place the bow on the side on which you want the bow to be. Fold the two sides of your fabric around the headband and glue each side into place.

Dah dah dum! Your finished bow :]. I find it is much less expensive just to make my own bows. The cost for this entire project was $1 at the Dollar Tree for a pack of six plain headbands, and the fabric came from the bottom of a dress I shortened (6.99$). Usually, since a full "spool" of ribbon costs about 2$ at WalMart, you can make the bow for only 3$. It made me realize how much of a ripoff some of the accessory stores are! Bows of Spring

Although I have yet to experience Lula magazine for myself, I can live vicariously through magazine scans of other readers. Until then, I made a bow that is a smaller but similar to the one Chanel is wearing. I actually made it before I ever spotted this picture, and was happily surprised to see something so similar on the cover of a magazine!

It was incredibly easy to create and I'm currently experimenting with more ways to make my precious bows. They are so girly and energetic! I've been wearing this gingham one with absolutely everything, especially since it matches my "new" jewelry that my mamaw bestowed upon me.

I also made this leopard print grosgrain double bow which was a lot easier than I expected. It took a lot of QuickGrab Tacky Glue but otherwise a very easy crafting project.

If you are interested in a tutorial please comment, the more I get the more likely I am to make one! I'll make one for a few types of different bows if people are interested in it.

Wearable, A Commentary

FALL 09, you look exciting.
Especially broken down into specific items that I would wear, in any season.
Instead of covering collections or trends as I whole I decided to pick out the things that seemed most wearable, to me anyways. I really enjoyed it and will probably cover fashion week like this in the future.

Aside from the whole "Boy George" aspect to the beauty side of this outfit, the skirt is right on target. Very inspirational, trendy and can be worn with a TON.

Ruffian
Can't really say I'm a fan of the body tights thing Ruffian models are rocking this year, but I love these two pieces, but they would be better suited separately.

Rodarte
Epic,inspirational,etc, it's been all over the place. The belts were my favorite part! Especially these babies. They look like rib cages and for some reason I can see one over one of the Erin Fetherston dresses.

I love everything about this. The details are pitch perfect. And I can actually imagine dressing that dress down! Leather oxfords and a funky cardigan and some romantic jewelry.

It seems like someone is listening, because it feels mercifully Springlike lately! It is supposed to be 68 where I live tomorrow...So I wore this to my friends party to celebrate her 16th birthday! It was quite a blast. I gave her more notebooks for her summer trip to the Windy City (a tiny Moleskein was included for eavesdropping...if you live in the area beware ;]). She shares my insane obsession with all things notebook and pen related so it was a well received gift.

Anyways, my step sister and I took a trip down to some railroad tracks because of their awesome photographic potential. I got some more great shots, some of her too, but she's kind of camera shy so I won't exploit her on my blog :].

And why yes, I am aware of my paleness. I prefer paleness on girls. What do you guys think is better- pale or tan?

I got an idea to use a purse strap as a wicked belt, or necklace depending on what I need it for. It was pretty easy and can probably be done with any chain link purse strap, but I haven't really tried. What you do is clip the fasteners that are usually on the purse on the ends of the belt and then arrange it so the can slide as you need them to. It is quite easy, but with the belt requires pretty constant attention to make sure it stays how you'd like it to.

This outfit didn't really have any inspiration but the makeup had inspiration from the below picture (Bust Magazine, July/August 08).

I just noticed her shirt is very similar to the one I'm wearing!

Anyways, in other news, I still need to post pictures of a shopping trip from the other weekend. It wasn't the most successful trip I've ever had but I got a few nice things that I've actually been wearing quite frequently and then a red heart shaped pair of sunglasses which are overdone but still fabulous. Today I had a lot of fun, the boyfraaannn stopped by spontaneously and ended up spending all day with my family and I, and got some sweet black button ups to boot!

Sooo, I don't know why the second two photos are so large, honestly. And I also wish that it was consistently as warm as it was when I took those pictures. I meant to put them up ages ago, when I actually wore the outfit. However, now, I haven't been able to because lately where I live has been getting so much rain. 5 inches in three days I think it was. And no, I am not one of those people who enjoys rain. Actually, I don't enjoy precipitation in general, other than for it to serve its necessary purpose of you know, providing us with food and whatnot. I'm definitely more of a summer person than a winter person. What is your favorite season/type of weather?

Oh oh, also, I had a lot of fun shopping with some friends today...erm yesterday... I got two dresses, both ruffly, and some "stirrup pants". My mom was freaking out over the 80's nostalgia vibes coming from them but they are the softest things I have ever tried on. Also, there was a picture in the Dec/Jan 08 Seventeen (yes, I know, it's SEVENTEEN, but it's also one of my favorites) of outfits for specific body types and the one for "petite" had stirrup pants and it was adorable. I know that's highly specific, but if anyone has seen it, I'd love to hear their opinions. Oh wow. I googled stirrup pants and the results were all fashionable people being apalled at their comeback...hehe.

Ok. Once I saw this pendant from The French Factory (link translated into English), I was captured (on film! Not funny, ok.) First of all, it was on one of my new favorite sites (read: EVER) The Cherry Blossom Girl (note:link also translated into English which yes I realize is a bit redundant since she kindly translated for English speakers anyways...). Second of all...I'm pretty obesessed with cameras anyways. I satisfied my need elsewhere because The French Factory has no online store and also it is quite pricey. I happened to stumbled upon the most adorable Etsy store and happily bought a suitable camera pendant necklace (and octopus pendant...and clock ring...etc.) there instead. Woot, buy handmade!

Also, until my lovely necklace arrives, I happened upon this Hello Kitty ornament and fixed it into a necklace. I thought it was quite appropriate given my recent obsession. I also loved my getup today...even though I realized it was kind of Hannah Montana esque...Anyways,my sister and I had a lot of fun with my Rebel XTi camera today so be sure to stay tuned for other photoshoots.

The above skirt and pants were both on great sales (I got the green pants for free after buying a pair of black jeans). The skirt is very reminiscent of one I have seen from AA, however, it was only five dollars. Needless to say, I stocked up. I got one blue, one gray, and one black. I buy too much black and gray nowadays so I figured the bright sea foam green pants were a good addition to my wardrobe. I am thinking about going back and getting the purple and light blue ones, but only if they are having another buy one get one free sale.
Among other things, I've discovered I have five pair of black flats, all varying in style slightly. Apparently the psychological aspect of shopping is the human tendency to horde things. Apparently I am epitomizing that with my buying in quantity and buying similar things over and over again. Have you guys ever had anything like that? Where no matter how many similar things you own, every time you see the item(s) again you want another?

Random Eye Focused Inspiration Interlude!

Top: I think that is the "Proenza Schuler Blue" color that some make up company actually made for the show. I don't really remember because it is just a random picture I found on my computer. However, despite my tendencies toward neutral colors in my wardrbe (all brightly colored pants aside), I absolutely love brightly colored make up. Recently I wore bright yellow eye shadow with lime green as eyeliner. It sounds a lot more atrocious than it was when I describe it.

Bottom:(Sorry if you don't like Gossip Girl). I think it's funny how thier characters' personality shows up in these pictures. Plus, Blake Lively being the only girl in this picture reminds me a lot of my group of friends. All my best friends are guys. Oh, but for the actual inspiration part, I LOVE THOSE SUNGLASSES. It's Kind of A Funny Story

Here I am, a month later, and YET I have no photos to post as of this moment.
I am only at home because of some lame sickness that I will definitely spare you from hearing the details about (that was an awkward sentence, yeah?).
Anyways, I'm glad because it gave me some much needed time to sift through all of this fashiony stuff and the blogs. Oh and look at pictures of a little thing called fashion week? Call me crazy but I hardly ever follow the runway stuff obsessively. I get more inspired by bloggers or random people I see on the streets or magazine spreads, etc, etc. I almost feel pressured to make all those pretty collages like the really popular bloggers do, but I seriously do NOT have enough motivation or time to do so.
Alas, I do make my own collages out of magazines and such when I have the time. They are all contained in this massive scrapbook which is far too large to scan or anything but I may try to do a portion.
SO! Who is excited for fall? I am, but I will miss getting to wear dresses, skirts, shorts...etc without tights. I am such a sucker for summer...but at least this means all the short sleeved shirts will be on sale. Oh and I get to wear cardigans to my heart's content.
I am also really excited because tomorrow I am throwing a black and white party! That should be extremely awesome if the people who I have invited want to cooperate. I am thinking about playing some awesome old black and white movie on our big screen and playing Twister (should be interesting with all of us dressed in our "finest").
Speaking of black and white, I have also inherited an old film camera which is especially useful since I am taking Photography (not digital, we use a dark room :]) this year. I will post pictures and the specific model later this weekend.
Anyways, I have also become increasingly obsessed with make up. I follow the make up trends actually more closely so than the fashion trends, however, it is difficult to post pictures and such of that on this blog without having about a thousand close ups of myself. However, if I do something that I think is post worthy to my face I will let you readers know.
I am definitely going to try to keep up with this more often! I have been meaning to post and keep taking pictures, but my school work this year is really getting to me. In one of my classes, the teachers say that if we can get good grades in it then college courses will be much easier. After the work load that we've gotten, I assume their correct, but then again I'm only 15 so I really don't know.
Anyways, the last post was the day before my birthday! So here's what I got for my birthday for all of those who are curious:

So, tomorrow is my birthday! Gooo fifteen! Anyways, I don't know what I'll be getting from my parents, but my friends know me so, so, so well and got me the most amazing presents and cards I have ever recieved. Gah, I appreciate them so much! Anyways, school has been so hectic! I love my schedule and my classes, and I ESPECIALLY love my awesome new school campus, I'm just overwhelmed with the work load at times. Anyways, I went shopping for back to school and that was amazing! I spent a lot, but also got essentially a new wardrobe. Northlake Mall is the best mall ever, or at least that I have been to.

Fashiony wise, school has been really good, too. I just hate dress codes in general because of my thing for short shorts and skirts, but I understand why they are in place. Instead of shorts and whatnot, I've been trying to rock the skinny jeans lately. My favorite pair is a pair from Delia's that I just can't stop trying on. Let me tell you, if you have nonexsistant female form, then you should definitely try out the jeans from Delia's. They are cheap, and especially when you get a)10$ off of the first pair for trying them on and b)the second pair half off.

So, my first three days as a sophomore, and I have the following impression. It is a freshman's duty to hate how sophomores are all full of themselves and it is a sophomores duty to relish in the fact that they aren't freshmen anymore. Oh, high school, you amuse me so.

I'm Not Dead!

So, I'm really sorry for not posting regularly about well, anything of merit. I've been trying to put together a Polyvore set of all my back-to-school clothes to at least have some sort of fashiony thing, but my laptop is wigging out! And I have plenty of outfit pictures ready, but I can't actually upload them to my laptop (it's ancient) and have to wait until I go to my dad's house next Wednesday to actually post anything worthwhile.

But! I got my schedule for school today and I am really excited. Our school just had some major renovations (55 million dollar project) and looks absolutely fantastic. I'm actually ok with eating in the caf (or "Food Court" as they call it) now.

I'm also excited because of my recent purchases in Charlotte. I bought a pair of white skinny jeans kind of on impulse because I had been eyeing them for quite a while. They were only about 23 bucks at Delia's and have actually wormed their way into several of my outfits/potential outfits. Who know white jeans could be so practical?

Anyways, please don't stop checking my blog because although I have been a horrible blogger lately, that will all change once school starts :]. I'll try to take a picture of my outfit everyday for you guys. And I'm trying to make a video blog (I refuse to use the term "vlog"), so stay tuned for that.

This is what happens when the kids I babysit are being good. I get bored and feel the need to share my experiences.

About SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design)! I really like the school and the SSA's (Summer Seminar Assistants) were all really cool grad students (almost all of the were grad students anyways...). The school mascot is an um...bumblebee. No kidding. I mean, it's an art school already, did they really have to make the athletics look even sillier? Oh well, at least it's cute :). For the summer program, we were housed in the absolute pits. It was amusing to hear students' reactions. I was talking to one girl who goes to SCAD at this store called Loose Lucy's and as soon as I said 'O House' she went "Ugh...I'm sorry." The artwork that the people churned out was amazing, of course, but I fell in love mainly with the city. I found so many amazing stores, and it's river front (Savannah River inspired the song Moon River, and we all know how amazing Breakfast at Tiffany's is), and it is 18 miles away from the beach. I'm sold. Now all I have to do is figure out a way to get enough scholarships to cover the steep tuition prices and figure out what people down there actually do for a living after college, and I'll be set!

On The Road Again...

I was so completely busy this week that I completely forgot to say that I won't have any real posts until at least the 28th.

I'm currently en route to Savannah to spend a week at a summer progroam at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design). I wanted the fashion course, but I didn't get that, unfortunately.

This is me and Zack, who happens to be the shit, no doubt. We used to go out and yes I'm aware we look like siblings. I'm not sure where the items of his clothing came from, but he'll read this and I'm sure will tell anyone who wants to know. I do know the shorts came from American Eagle. I have a lot of well dressed friends, so I'll be featuring some of them on my blog from now on :].

Birthday Longings...

I am loving everything in this collage for fall and the rest of summer. The background consists of an awesome tiered DKNY skirt and the pattern of an adorable tank top from Gap's Romantic Collection. And apparently I have a fettish for ruffly white tops...? My birthday is coming up in August and I have also been saving up for quite a while for my preschool shopping trip in Charlotte, North Carolina, so I am definitely wanting some of these.

So, I found my teal "Wayfarers" for ten dollars at Pac Sun. Not bad! I don't mind not having the originals because honestly I like this color a lot better. It matches a bathing suit that I got, too, which was actually coincidental. I have found a backpack that would make any private school girl proud. I really like this bag, although I'm not sure the usefulness of it. It isn't mine nor will it ever come into my possession because it is my little cousin's and there is no way she will fork this one over. It didn't have a label or anything on the inside, so a-thrifting-I-will-go. I may also check the local "Educational Outfitters" because it has all the uniform type things. This is a guitar strap. No kidding. It was my step dad's back in the day, and one day I happened upon it, asked him if I could have it, and a belt was born. It's a good accent type piece and goes with the whole 70's era trend.

This is a very "me" outfit. I felt really nice in it. It's what I wore to dinner for my step dad's birthday :].

Anyways, in other news: I've started a huge "Look Book" kind of thing but it is not digital! It's a an old scrapbook that I collaged up and my clippings have given me a huge wish list.

I also have braces! Yay! Of course, I'm kidding, but they are lilac and teal if anyone wishes to know.

Batman and Bullies

So, personally I think that this cloud that was shaped like the Batman symbol is a sign I should go see the movie! And, the only reason I'm posting it on here is because I can't figure out a way to post from my moble without a picture too.

Skirts,Suggestions, and Apologies

So, first thing is first. Sorry for the lack of posting, well for a week and a half, I guess. I haven't had a single day off since Father's Day! I haven't had time to put together any decent outfits because the only things I can manage to throw on as I'm running out the door for babysitting are shorts and tank tops. AND, to top it all of, I leave for a trip on Saturday (at 5 A.M. to be exact...ew), so there won't be any outfit posts for at least another week and a half. Sorry!

But! I have been made extrememly happy by these pictures I found on Face Hunter! I'm not really sure how "over" or "still in" the whole crazily tiered little mini skirt thing is, but I still like is, so why not? I like the skirt in the first picture better than the one in the second, but I found one similar to the floral one in the second picture on Forever 21's website. I can't really do the whole leather jacket and scarf thing with it right now, considering it averages about 90 degrees daily here, but I'm thinking a solid colored tee shirt (longish one) and a smaller scarf.

My favorite look out of all of these is DEFINITELY the last one. I'm in love with the high waisted skirt and simple tank top. I don't really like the pattern on the skirt as much as the whole outfit itself, so I'm thinking maybe this skirt (also Forever 21) would work for a similar look:

Not really too sure if this one could work as high waisted, especially with a small waist, but I've got a skinny leather CK belt that I swear was made for an 8 year old boy (also given to me by my fashionable and tiny aunt) because it will barely fit on my hips. My waist, however, is a different story.

Also, before I go on my trip, I need some suggestions. I'm going to Orlando for five days, and when I'm not in official attire (it's a competitive club even, and the crap I have to wear makes me want to dry heave), I don't want to look ridiculous in short shorts and tank tops all week. I have a pretty small budget, but I'm going shopping on Friday for some things. Anyone know of really cute summery clothes that are cheap and not ridiculously slutty? It'd be great to get a store name or a brand or something.

Closet Spotlighting, Feeling French, and Outfits (part 2)

Closet Spotlights!

So, my first closet spotlight today is this lovely, yet clanky and slightly annoying, necklace. This is only a small portion of the charms but they all include some sort of love theme. My personal favorite charm is one that's an actual spinning mini merry-go-round. The bottom big heart charm is a little dial that spins to alternating "yes's" and "no's" as in "Does he love me?" or something. It's a great addition to any really boring outfit, but I can't really wear anything but earrings with it.

Next, my lovely beyond belief Juicy Couture heels. They are indeed delicious. And yes, they were indeed thirty dollars. Sure, they were used. But can you really tell? I'm obsessed with these shoes. However, I am currently facing three dilemmas: my boyfriend would be shorter than me if I wore them around him, my mom pretty much has forbidden me to wear them as she refers to them as my "FMP's", or F me pumps...*cough*, and last but not least, they are SO HARD to walk in. Oh, and the real kicker is the bottom is so silver it can be used as a mirror and the toe part says "Smells Like Couture"...my shoes usually don't smell like couture, but ok.

Outfits!

This was another Starbucks outfit. Not my greatest ensemble ever, but guess what I ended putting over the tank top! That's right, my khaki cardigan! Anyways, I really loved the striped scarf over the tank top, and it was all very patriotic. I'm considering wearing it on the fourth of July. Oh, and I've noticed some more trends in my wardrobe besides shades of blues and greens, I also own A LOT of bird print things and am starting to head towards lock and key items. I actually just bought a scarf from..American Eagle..that had little hearts and keys all over it. Very cute. Potential closet spotlight too.

Oh, and if you've seen The Other Boelyn Girl, I'm hoping you'll agree that all of the necklaces in that movie are beyond amazing, and George Boelyn (his real name is Jim Sturgess I think, he was also in 21 and Across the Universe) is completely adorable! And that one green dress that Anne wears with the flowers on the front is very pretty, and perhaps a future Halloween costume inspiration?

Closet Spotlights!

My first closet spotlight is none other than the purse that I shelled out my very hard earned babysitting money for. That's my summer job! Since I'm only fourteen, there aren't really any other options available but they pay's nice. Anyways, I am spotlighting this amazing purse because it not only matches more than seventy five percent of my wardrobe, but the inside is this amazing design (that I'm pretty sure The Sak got some famous French graffiti artist to design, but don't take my word for it.) It's really roomy and holds up to my notebook fetish (meaning I carry one everywhere). Squee!

My second closet spotlight, the last for this post, is this random straw hat I found in my family's computer office. It used to be my mother's, but it's a little shabby so I'm guessing she doesn't want it anymore. I love the bow around it, and if it weren't sewn on I would definitely change it out to match my outfit. As of now, I'm not really sure what to wear it with, other than a bathing suit and towel. Suggestions?

So, I'm not really sure I would wear this outfit in real life, ever, but it made me feel very French. Just in the cheesy "OH LOOK A BERET" way. Also, I find a way to work that little cardigan into almost every outfit I own. It's a total godsend. Not only that, but it was THIRTEEN dollars. Totally worth it :]

I told you I could work that cardigan into every outfit! This is what I ended up wearing to a Starbucks-and-movie-session tonight. I really wanted to wear the belt over a shirt like that, but without the cardigan it made me look more preggers than posh. I figured the jeans didn't really matter...they might be my favorite but they're just medium wash boot cut jeans from Hollister. And my shoes are just flip flops, and also my favorite. Anyways, my bangs were all wonky so I added the little barrette to tame them. I ended up really liking this outfit :]. Oh, and I'm wondering why the belt picture turned out to be such good quality? Maybe I had it on Macro or something.

I really hate it that I can only upload pictures at my dad's house because I have been taking pictures of outfits like crazy that I definitely wish to share. But sadly...my laptop at the mom's house (where I actually live, not just visit, and yes my parents are divorced) is circa 2002? And that may be giving it some slack.

Any-who-ha, I will post later today about all the wonderful (I hope) outfits I have been putting together lately and also will put a nice new banner at the top of my page. I'm not sure what to put up there yet but it will probably be a still life photo of some of my cool fashiony stuff. I love cool fashiony stuff.

Well, I don't want to bore you, so I'll stop typing about absolutely nothing and you can just read the goods later on!

TALES FROM MALL SHOPPING

If you're wondering, the title is a twist on "Tales from Home Shopping" on The Soup. It's a show that is kind of like Best Week Ever but with only one host and even better.

Anyways, yesterday I went to the local mall. It's only merits are stores such as American Eagle and the other stuff that everyone is pretty much forced to wear. However, I did score an amazingly cute, summery strapless dress from the kids' Abercrombie for thirty dollars! I'm not complaining! I also got the best purse in the world for sixty bucks. Pictures of both later :].

I did, shudder, decide to explore Wet Seal. I found a really cute dress similar to the white one up there. That one is actually from the Lauren Conrad collection. The one I found though, I'm not sure if it would achieve the same affect. I can't find a picture of it on their website, which is really annoying me but I'll search some more later.

Old People are Trendy

Welcome to my world!

Why is it that people who are obsessed with fashion tend to live in the least fashionable places? My town and the town where my mother works are pretty much the retirement capitals of the world. Florida? You have nothing on us. The mall in my little ridge town has been sitting there, practically empty, for as long as I can remember. The elders in my community didn't want it torn down because they used it to walk. The town shut down the inside, so stores are only accessible from the front doors...

The mall is still sitting there. My mom swears the same huge floral print pantsuits are there from twenty years ago.

Enough complaining about how I have to hitch a ride twenty minutes away to barely scrape up something suitable (that is, something that every other mall rat isn't wearing), I will now talk style, fashion, me, etc.
First of all, I'm definitely new to this blogging thing. I'm pretty much limited to social networks (Myspace, Facebook). If any seasoned fashion bloggers who happen to glance at my blog have some advice, feel free to share!

Second of all, my style. It might not be the most outrageous or expensive look in the books (or um, magazines), but it works for the type of person I am. It is preppy, but with some boho/hippie thrown in for good measures. If it sounds like a total contradiction...it is! Basically, it is what I have come up with to avoid dressing like the mannequins in American Eagle

Last but not least, me! I'm currently fourteen and a rising sophomore. I'm young, yes. But from some of the blogs I read every day, it seems that getting started early is best. So many great opportunities can come out of writing about fashion like this. I go to one of the best schools in my state, even though my generation is causing its rankings to decline. I'm (yet another contradiction) very artistic but also have a knack for numbers. I'm also pretty obsessed with music, so readers will probably hear a lot about that as well.
